Nearly 60% of adults and 75% of children have antibodies indicating that they’ve been infected with Covid-19, according to new data from CDC
The data come from an ongoing study of blood samples sent to commercial laboratories across the US.At the beginning of December, an estimated 34% of Americans had antibodies showing that they had once been infected with the virus that causes Covid-19. By the end of February, after an avalanche of cases caused by the Omicron variant, that number had jumped to 58%."The highest jump in antibody detection was among children and adolescents," said Dr.

"There are some areas of the country, particularly in the Northeast, where we're seeing a higher number of cases and we're starting to see some hospitalizations tick up," she said.Walensky said health officials had not seen the numbers tick up as much as we might have expected earlier in the pandemic,"thanks to, I believe, a large amount of protection in the community" and from vaccines."But this is something that we need to watch carefully," she said.
