Construction on a new $25 million coroner's office facility is set to begin this year in Marion County.

The plan is for the coroner's office building to be completed, and faculty moved in by November 2024, McGinty said.The building will come with new equipment, which should make the coroner’s office more efficient.
“It will have a specialized X-ray machine that can do full-body x-rays on decedents within three minutes and get imaging,” McGinty said. “It just saves so much time when prepping the decedents for examinations.”“That way we are preventing cross contamination of communicable diseases so we aren't risking our staff's health when we have an infectious decedent,” McGinty said.
“We are so ready to go,” McGinty said. “We will just be able to do the work much more efficiently in the new building.”
