New HISD Superintendent Mike Miles announces first cabinet appointments, district's highest seats
announced his first cabinet appointments on Monday, tabbing a mix of current and former HISD employees, school administrators from across Texas and educational analysts to the district's highest seats.Cicero Group
The new superintendent also named his three division superintendents, who will be responsible for overseeing subsets of the district. They are Orlando Riddick, former superintendent of Midland and Cedar Hill ISDs; Luz Martinez, former chief of equity, diversity and inclusion at Round Rock ISD; and Imelda De La Guardia, who most recently served as an assistant principal in Spring Branch and formerly worked as a school improvement officer and area superintendent at HISD.
Wanda Paul will continue in her role as chief operating officer, which she has held since 2021. As COO, Paul is responsible for a team of over 6,000 employees that provide transportation, nutrition and building services. Miles has filled out three other cabinet seats with education strategists and former employees of his at Dallas ISD and Third Future Schools, the charter network Miles founded.Here's what's next for HISD now that a new superintendent and board of managers are in charge
