Groundbreaking marks start of construction
York's new bilingual workforce development center, known as York Tec Centro, is set to open next spring. The former M&T bank building on East Market Street in York is now beginning renovations. On Monday morning, state and local officials took part in a ceremonial groundbreaking that signaled the start of construction.
When it opens next year, it will provide career training, adult education and English as a second language. The program is focused on helping underserved and under-employed communities in York.It is expected it will also help many businesses that Lt. Gov. Austin Davis says are desperate for skilled employees even with record-low unemployment. The program is funded through public and private sources.
