Passenger and freight service are suspended indefinitely as transit agencies evaluation ongoing situation
A new landslide at San Clemente has stopped all rail traffic at a spot two miles north of where the Orange County Transportation Authority suspended passenger trains for almost six months and spent more than $13.7 million to stabilize a different slope.
The new trouble spot is below Casa Romantica, a historic property built in the 1920s and now owned by the city of San Clemente and used as a cultural and events center. The city discovered new movement in the slopes there in recent weeks.OCTA, in consultation with Metrolink and the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency, decided to close the tracks to all passenger and freight service at 1 p.m. Thursday, said OCTA Communications Manager Joe Zlotnik.

Landslide in San Clemente shuts down Surfliner services -SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Metro Link shut down services on Thursday after employees notices debris falling near the San Clemente Pier Station from a nearby landslide. The Pacific Surfliner service from Irvine to San Diego was suspended indefinitely out of an abundance of caution. Passengers received Uber vouchers up to $50 to get them to their destinations.
