Louisiana is bracing for even more rain as the National Weather Service warns that hurricane conditions are possible along the Gulf Coast as a 'potential tropical cyclone' moves closer to land.

The storm is expected to become a tropical depression or tropical storm later Thursday and could become a hurricane by late Friday, the weather service saidThe weather service had issued a hurricane watch from the mouth of the Mississippi River to west to Cameron, Louisiana, but New Orleans itself was not under a hurricane watch early Thursday.
