Consumers with debts in collection could see emails and texts replace phone calls and letters as the main channels of communication from collectors
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on Tuesday unveiled a plan to update rules governing debt-collection practices, proposing to reduce the number of calls
collectors can make to consumers and clarifying how debt collectors can use modern technologies, such as voicemail, email and text messages, to communicate with consumers.
