Concept art from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has revealed an adorable image of Peter B. Parker with his newborn daughter Mayday Parker. The film, which hits theaters on June 2, is a sequel to the 2018 hit animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Recently, the official Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Twitter account shared a glimpse at concept art of Peter B. Parker with Mayday. The post that shares the art celebrates this major life change for the hero with the caption "From Peter B. Parker to Papa B. Parker." It juxtaposes the images of him carrying his daughter while casually hanging from the ceiling, the two of them playing, and a close-up of Mayday featuring her differently colored eyes with a frame from the original Into the Spider-Verse where Parker was asking himself if he wanted kids.
The exact way that Mayday will figure into the plot is currently unknown. It has been revealed that she is the daughter that Peter had with his longtime love interest Mary Jane Watson. While Mayday is likely one of the Spider-People who will be affected by Across the Spider-Verse's The Spot, it seems unlikely that Peter would be willing to bring her along on his adventure.
Mayday's role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will largely be to reflect the character growth of Peter B. Parker, who originally was entirely unwilling to be the mentor figure Miles wanted him to be. Now that he's a parent, he will likely view Miles as even more of a surrogate son, which will up the stakes for him when they're both put into danger.
