New national high school football spring league to launch, but landing players could be tough
Former USFL executive Brian Woods is launching a national spring high school football league to start in 2024.Former USFL president Brian Woods has announced plans to launch the Prep Super League, a national high school football spring league slated to hold its inaugural season in 2024.
The league will operate independently of high school state athletic associations, such as the University Interscholastic League in Texas. There are 29 states that allow high school athletes to profit from name, image and likeness deals, but Texas is not one of them. Neither is Florida, Georgia, Ohio nor Arizona. Those states include seven of the targeted markets.
Many high-profile recruits around the country graduate early in December in order to arrive on campus at their school of choice to participate in spring practices and get a head start on their college careers. That would eliminate them from the pool of potential players for the Super Prep League to choose from.
