A reticulated python - whose species is the longest known snake in the word - was found dead along a Long Island roadside, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said this week.
Prim Praw, 40, of Bangkok, Thailand, was heading to work when she turned back after feeling something rubbery by her foot. The dead python was 14 feet long, spanning the length of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's pickup truck.Officers originally found the snake curled up in a ball and it was disposed of properly, the release said. In rare cases, the python can grow to more than 20 feet and it typically weighs 30 to 40 pounds, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. "It would be extremely difficult for me to save my life without help," Greene said."It wouldn't take very long and it would be awful."
