According to the LAO, which helps guide the state legislature on spending decisions, the projected budget deficit is $34.5 billion, more than the $31.5 billion that Newsom previously projected. The LAO also estimates California’s revenues will be $11 billion lower than Newsom is projecting.
Again, this all comes as Newsom spends his time firing off tweets about Republican-run states. You would be forgiven if you thought he was actually in charge of governing the largest state in the country as it goes through budget problems, a declining population, and the worst poverty and homelessness problems in the country. Luckily for California residents, Newsom spent all that time visiting liberal arts schools in Florida.
