.nickmulveymusic is taking recycling to new levels with his latest vinyl release, 'In The Anthropocene – Ocean Vinyl,' a record made from recycled ocean plastic found on the Cornish coast.
Proceeds benefit marine conservational charity Surfers Against Sewage. In the Anthropocene – Ocean VinylThe release is a partnership with Cornish beer maker Sharp's Brewery, and was brokered by The Globe, Universal Music U.K.'s creative agency. All 105 exclusive pressings sold out within just four hours, with proceeds donated to U.K. marine conservational charity Surfers Against Sewage.
The Anthropocene -- the name for the current geological age -- is one where human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment. “These times of urgent global crisis are demanding we re-examine ourselves and the world and we raise ourselves to match the Earth, this wonder-organism from which we are not, and have never been, separate," says Mulvey about the record.
“For too long it’s been normal practice to take from our planet’s resources with no culture of giving back," he continues. "is an exploration of what’s possible when that culture changes and asks, can we imagine a world where every commercial transaction also gives something back to the Earth?” The record includes two edits of the song "In the Anthropocene," and each unique copy is handmade by record designer “Nick was the perfect artist to help us realize the ambition of this campaign," said, creative licensing manager at The Globe and Universal-owned distributor Caroline.
