Nick Saban thanked Alabama fans after the Crimson Tide beat Tennessee Saturday.
34-20 victory over Tennessee, he doubled back to the student section, waving at the Crimson Tide faithful, most of whom were enveloped in a haze of cheap cigar smoke.
Saban was indeed happy. Before Saturday’s game, he went on his weekly radio show with a message to share. Pregame, it was obvious the request worked. The crowd at Bryant-Denny Stadium was the loudest it had been all season. “I messed with that,” defensive back Malachi Moore said afterward. “I loved how the crowd was rocking today.”
