Brigaud-Robert co-founded the Paris-based international sales banner Films Distribution in 1997 and spearheaded its rebranding into Playtime in 2017 to reflect the company’s ambition to expand its pan-European scope, do more productions and get into TV.
An Oscar winner for “Son of Saul,” Playtime now encompasses Films Boutique in Germany, Be for Films in Belgium and Film Constellation in the U.K. The group had 10 films at Cannes, winning the Un Certain Regard prize with Ali Abbasi’s “Border.” The banner had eight pics at Venice, including Olivier Assayas’ “Non-Fiction” and Laszlo Nemes’ “Sunset,” both of which Playtime co-produced. Brigaud-Robert recently joined forces with Animal Kingdom to produce a U.S.
