Fighting raged on the conflict's third day as Israel sought to expel Hamas intruders and unleashed a second night of intense bombardment of Gaza.
A second French national has died in the assault led by Hamas fighters in Israel, officials said on Monday. “We send our condolences to his loved ones and are in contact with his family and the Israeli authorities to provide them with all our support during this ordeal,” France’s foreign ministry said.
Officials provided no other details. French authorities said some nationals were still unaccounted for and they are working to locate them. French President Emmanuel Macron pledged support for Israel in a phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, and firmly condemned the terror attacks perpetrated by Hamas, French officials said.
