Texas guard Marcus Carr drives around Gonzaga guard Rasir Bolton during the second half of an NCAA college basketball game, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, in Austin, Texas. AUSTIN — Marcus Carr lost track of how many times Texas coach Chris Beard made them rewatch the footage of last year’s loss to Gonzaga. But late Wednesday night, with that defeat avenged and the game tape mercifully retired from the rotation, the senior guard could crack a smile over the whole ordeal.
More laughter followed. And why not? After all, the tape from Wednesday’s game should be a far more enjoyable viewing experience for Carr and Co.. It was a stunning reversal of what happened last November in Spokane, Wash., when Bulldog star center Drew Timme had his way with the Longhorns in an 86-74 win that wasn’t quite as close as the final score indicated.
Hunter’s presence has, in turn, created a healthier ecosystem for the rest of the Longhorns to thrive in.
