North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles off the country’s east coast early Saturday, Seoul officials said in an initial assessment, a weapons test that came hours after President Trump expressed optimism about future nuclear talks that remain gridlocked.
The missiles were fired at 5:34 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. local time from an area near the country’s northeastern city of Hamhung toward the sea between Korea and Japan. They traveled a 248.5-mile distance and soared 30 miles high, according to South Korea’s military....
