A pedestrian avoids the rain with an umbrella during a thunderstorm in downtown on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021, in Dallas. A cold front is moving slowly across North Texas and will continue to move south overnight.

The front will bring a chance of isolated thunderstorms tonight. It will also bring an end to our triple-digit heat as Thursday will be much cooler with high temperatures in the 80s. The potential for isolated showers and storms will continue into Thursday afternoon, but most areas will likely stay dry. Friday and Saturday will be dry, but rain chances return Sunday.

There will be a warmup Friday and Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 90s, but it will be short-lived. A significant change in our weather pattern will lead to a cool and potentially wet week next week. Each day features a good chance of showers and storms with highs in the 80s. The rain potential across all of North Texas next week will be one to three inches with isolated areas receiving higher amounts.: Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low: 75. Wind: N 10 mph.
