Family members said 19-year-old Erick Barbosa-Guardado was a student at Cal State Northridge and was on his way home from work when he was killed.
, was pronounced dead at the scene. His aunt said he was on his way home from his shift at the Marshalls in Granada Hills when the crash occurred. She said her nephew was attending classes during the day and working at the retail store at night.
Following the crash, two suspects got out of the vehicle and took off running. The LAPD then set up a large perimeter around the area in search of the suspects. LAPD officials confirmed by 5 a.m. the suspect who led the pursuit was taken into custody following a K9 and helicopter search, while the second suspect remains at large.and the second in the San Fernando Valley in recent weeks in which at least one innocent bystander was killed.
