A total of 9,138 crimes were reported to authorities over the course of February 2022, a 58.7% increase over the 5,759 reported in February of 2021. "The men and women of the New York City Police Department are proactively addressing the deep-rooted causes of criminal behavior," said Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell said in a statement.
