NYC weather warms up bigtime starting today, but New Year's Eve in Times Square might have issues. Here's the latest from StormTeam4NY
Lose the heavy coats starting Wednesday, with temperatures expected to climb through the rest of the weekThen we get a stretch near 60 degrees to kick off the new year
Those frigid temperatures that gripped the tri-state area last weekend, burning the faces of anyone unfortunate enough to be outside in the sub-zero wind chills, have moved out -- and we're looking at a mild stretch that will see the region approach 60 degrees to kick off the new year. Along with that warmth will come some rain. Those preparing to spend Saturday night in Times Square or anywhere else outside would be wise to bring a raincoat.
Temperatures topped the freezing mark Tuesday for the first time in days and will steadily increase throughout the week. Wednesday brings partly cloudy skies and temperatures into the 40s, and even warmer and sunnier conditions for Thursday and Friday. While the trend continues Saturday, as highs could break an unseasonable 50 degrees, the dry stretch comes to an end. Rain is forecast through much of the New Year's Eve festivities, though no downpours are expected right now.
Monday looks like the winner for next week, as it may be the only day with no rain. The rest of next week looks unsettled, with afternoon showers possible Tuesday through Friday as kids return to school after the holidays.
