Oak Ridge softball coach Stefani Rougeau, far left, reached the 400-win milestone last week and has the War Eagles in the playoffs for the 15th consecutive season.On Tuesday, the War Eagles beat Caney Creek 17-0 for coach Stefani Rougeau’s 400th win as a head coach. Three days later, Oak Ridge shut down Willis 7-0 in the regular season finale to make the playoffs for the 15th straight season.
Rougeau is in her 19th season as a head coach. A native of Eunice, Louisiana, she started her career at Eunice High.She came to Houston 27 years ago, leading North Shore over four seasons and compiling 103 wins. She guided the Mustangs to the state championship game in 1998. “It means I’ve been doing this quite a while,” Rougeau said of reaching 400 wins. “I think back to all the teams I’ve coached and the players and how grateful I am to have been in those positions. It feels amazing. It feels accomplished. It’s hard to describe.”
Rougeau was a standout all-conference player at McNeese State. All along, she knew she wanted to coach.
