A body was found in the area of a fire along Interstate 980 in Oakland early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
OAKLAND — Investigations were underway early Tuesday morning after a body was found near the scene of a fire on the side of westbound Interstate 980 in Oakland, according to authorities.
A spokesperson with the California Highway Patrol said officers were called to a fire near the 17th Street off-ramp on I-980 at around 1:30 a.m. The fire was quickly extinguished with the help of the Oakland Fire Department. A body was located in the surrounding area, according to the CHP. As of Tuesday morning, authorities could not confirm a cause of death or whether the body exhibited any signs of trauma related to the fire or otherwise.
