Chase Farrell and McKenzie Parks have stepped up to help Oaks Christian’s offense explosive despite some injuries.
Oaks Christian running back Mckenzie Parks celebrates his touchdown with Chase Moss against Chaparral, Nov. 3, 2023, in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs at Oaks Christian High School. The day Oaks Christian receiver Chase Farrell committed to Stanford in March, his brother, Bryce, who is a receiver at Stanford, called to ask how he was feeling.
“Same thing, next man up,” Lions coach Charlie Collins said. “We don’t change anything scheme-wise. It just allows for newer players or younger players to step up and represent themselves. So it’s always there, always the opportunity to see somebody else get in there.” Christian Knoos recovers a fumble to set Oaks up at the 25-yard line. Two plays later, McKenzie Parks punches it in from three yards out to give the Lions a 14-0 lead. 4:57 1QSophomore running back Justin Lewis has also received increased carries and got into his third game of the season at the position against Chaparral.
Farrell has been targeted by Oaks Christian quarterback Nate Bennett more in recent games and, consequently, has been faced with more attention from defenses. Bennett has been steadfast throughout the personnel changes on offense and has thrown for 1,596 yards this season with 18 touchdowns and two interceptions. Backup quarterback Devin Tate has thrown for nine touchdowns in nine games with no interceptions.
