Now that Mayfield is on his way out and three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson is here, Beckham, 29, wouldn’t rule out coming back if the Browns were interested.
A source told cleveland.com that Beckham is open to the possibility because he loved his teammates and Browns fans, and only left when things reached the point of no return with Baker Mayfield.
Myles Garrett was also a huge Beckham supporter and expressed his dismay that the players had no input before the Browns released him. Beckham, of course, went on to help the Rams win the Super Bowl, but tore his ACL again in his left knee in the second quarter of the 23-20 victory over the Bengals. Beckham underwent surgery again shortly after the Super Bowl, and is in the midst of another lengthy rehab, but could return to the field in 2022. The first time he tore the ACL, Oct. 25, 2020 against the Bengals, he was back on the field for the Browns in 11 months. If it takes him that long again, he’d miss most or all of the 2022 season, but plans to resume his career.
It would’ve helped the Browns to engage a couple of teams in a bidding war, but with jobs dwindling, they might not have that luxury.
