An off-duty Houston police officer is accused of shooting his wife in the face at an apartment complex on Clay Road near Gessner Road.

Authorities arrived at the scene and found a 30-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the face. She was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery. According to the police chief, the officer, now identified as Galib Waheed Chowdhury, 31, has been arrested. Chowdhury is assigned to the Northwest Division and has been with the department for two years.An off-duty Houston police officer is accused of shooting his wife in the face at an apartment complex. According to HPD Chief Troy Finner, the officer has been relieved of duty and charges are being filed.
"Once you put that patch on and that badge on, you’re a police officer," Chief Finner said. "And I expect you to conduct yourself all the time as a police officer. Again, respecting the process, but I’m very troubled on some things that we know now."
