Iowa State rediscovering its defensive identity - trapping ball handlers, pushing Texas out of the lane, ignoring iffy shooters around the arc in favor of blockading the interior - turned the game. Those stops and live-ball turnovers led to better looks Iowa State, which saw four of its five starters score at least 11 points. And Hunter didn’t score for the rest of the night, finishing with those 10 points on 3 of 11 shooting with three assists.
And when Carr corralled an errant inbounds pass flung into the backcourt for a go-ahead layup with 11:44 to go, Texas was in good shape, some foul trouble aside.
