Museum uncovers century-old map mural in renovation process
This mural discovered at the Brazoria County Historical Museum in Angleton will be carefully restored.ANGLETON — Construction crews uncovered what museum officials called a priceless find as they pulled back plaster as part of the latest work on an ongoing renovation at the Brazoria County Museum in Angleton.
The current museum was built in 1897, said Jackie Haynes, director of the Brazoria County Historical Museum. It was originally constructed as the original courthouse of Brazoria County. The vault door had its original decorative painting intact and was hidden behind an existing plumbing wall. The door will be relocated to the first floor.
