Metrolink reported that the Alameda Street entrance to the downtown train and bus station was closed as a precaution due to the police activity.

LOS ANGELES — Authorities took a man into custody Friday near Union Station in downtown Los Angeles after police went to the area on a report of a man with a knife.

Officers were sent to the 800 block of Alameda Street about 12:20 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Metrolink reported that the Alameda Street entrance to nearby Union Station was closed as a precaution due to the “police activity,” and passengers were advised to use the Caesar Chavez Avenue entrance at the east end of the station during the investigation.

Police said the man was taken into custody about 1 p.m., and no injuries were reported. According to KTLA5, the man was taken to a hospital for a medical examination after officers deployed a Taser and bean bag round to take him into custody.
