Grant Rose, 58, was sentenced to 42.5 years in prison after he was found guilty of multiple felony counts involving the sex trafficking of an underage girl.

Grant Rose and Susan Walendzik, both of Bluffton, Ohio, have been sentenced to prison for being involved in the sex trafficking of an underage girl. LIMA, Ohio — A Bluffton, Ohio, man was sentenced to more than 42 years in prison after he was convicted on multiple sex-trafficking charges involving an underage girl.

Grant Rose, 58, was found guilty Friday in Allen County Common Pleas Court of 13 counts of trafficking in persons, one count of promoting prostitution and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. All of the charges are felonies. Authorities say Rose and his girlfriend, Susan Walendzik, 43, of Bluffton, controlled the victim by getting her addicted to narcotics. They then used her addiction to participate in sex trafficking from July 2018 to December 2020, authorities say.

Walendzik pleaded guilty on Feb. 1 to two counts of trafficking in persons, both first-degree felonies. She will serve a mandatory sentence of 18 years in prison and, after her release, must register as a Tier 2 sex offender for 25 years. “This couple sowed the seeds of degradation: addiction, violence and sexual abuse – and will now reap the grim reality of decades behind bars,” Attorney General Dave Yost said in a statement. “My hope is that these sentences empower the once-victim to recognize she’s a survivor so she can reclaim her true identity.”
