Ohio State football coach Ryan Day received a 5.25% raise last spring on top of the $9.5 million he was scheduled to make.
Per that 2022 contract extension, Day was eligible for increases in the supplemental media portion of his contact — at the discretion of athletic director Gene Smith — beginning Feb. 1, 2023.
For the 2022 season, only Alabama’s Nick Saban, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Georgia’s Kirby Smart earned salaries above $10 million,Those coaches have won seven of the last eight national championships. Smith has, in the past, said he endeavored to keep the OSU football coaching salary near the top of the sport.
