Several House committees are considering holding hearings about the Biden administration's response to the Ohio train derailment that released chemical toxins into the environment earlier this month.
Both the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and House Energy and Commerce Committee are considering probes, according to Axios. The hearings would come after Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg visited East Palestine, Ohio, last week — a trip that caused bipartisan criticism over the delay in federal response.The train derailment on Feb.
He asked for documents regarding the Transportation Department's response to both the derailment and health emergency that followed, as well as documents related to changes in train maintenance and procedures for trains carrying hazardous materials.
