Olivia Culpo says her 2015 breakup with Nick Jonas left her “with no sense of identity.”
, but looking back, Culpo now realizes that she didn't fully know herself at the time of her relationship.
The former Miss Universe discussed her two-year relationship with the pop star, which ended in 2015, during the premiere episode of her new TLC reality show,. When asked by producers about their time together, Culpo replied, “Do I have to talk about that?” before admitting, “I did date Nick and that was a very formative experience for me.” She went on to reminisce, explaining, “I moved to L.A. with him. I had no brand, no money and I was in love.
Culpo added, “My whole identity was in him, which is a very common story of a young person in love. I thought we were going to get married, I thought all the things, and I just remember night after night looking up at my ceiling in my apartment that I couldn't afford thinking to myself how am I going to pay my rent.” She had to figure out how to get back on her feet quickly as, she admitted, “I couldn't even afford my groceries.
