One of Disney’s most beloved animated classics is getting a 4K restoration, and the title is set to release on Disney Plus later this month.

Now, per Deadline, a 4K restoration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is set to release on Disney Plus on October 16 as part of a celebration for The Walt Disney Company's 100th anniversary. The restoration not only includes a sharper resolution, but, as revealed by a set of before-and-after images, the film boasts brighter, more vivid colors that are as close as possible to those of the original release.
The upcoming Snow White remake, which is directed by Marc Webb, is set to star Rachel Zegler in the title role after her rise to fame with West Side Story, with Gal Gadot playing the Evil Queen. The movie isn't set to release until spring 2024 and a first trailer hasn't yet been released, but the remake is already mired in controversy.
Zegler's assertions that the Snow White remake will modernize the story and the title character to more accurately reflect modern sensibilities regarding female characters has been met with some backlash. The decision to remake the film at all has also come under fire, with actor Peter Dinklage criticizing the original's depiction of the Dwarf characters. Currently, however, it's not clear how the film will handle the seven eponymous miners.
