I wanted to show the world the real struggles, the real issues, what needs to be fixed and what works when someone like me gets out of prison.
This documentary is raw. It explains what transition is all about. We hope to spread the word and get the information out to the public and to assist students and people who need it most. The documentary has earned several Emmys already and it’s been screened in several public spaces from San Diego to Los Angeles.
Today, I am now stable, still pursuing my education and temporarily employed. I will continue to go as far as I can, to take the torch from the professors, students, staff and funders. I will show what second chances are all about, especially for people who are hungry for forgiveness and success.
I live in peace today, I no longer have to worry about getting pulled over, handcuffed for no reason, having my rights taken from me, getting searched without cause. I don’t have to worry about the stress, anxiety and the post-traumatic stress disorder I had to face while living on parolee is no more. I’m free and the community of Escondido has embraced me and my family since day one.
