What would you call someone who serves his birth country in one war and that country’s enemy in another? A traitor? An opportunist? From Alcibiades to Jomini, history furnishes plenty examples of these types. But in the case of Herbert Sulzbach, who fought for Germany in World War I and Britain in World War II, the right answer would be “hero.”
