Baltimore Orioles legend Brooks Robinson died, his family and the team said Tuesday. He was 86.

The Hall of Fame third baseman, known as the Human Vacuum Cleaner, was an 18-time All-Star and won an unprecedented 16 consecutive Gold Gloves as the best defensive player at his position. His 23-year career was spent exclusively in Baltimore and he was a member of the World Series-winningRobinson also was known as one of his era’s best clutch hitters, collecting 2,848 hits, 268 home runs and 1,357 RBIs.
His exploits also won him an AL MVP in 1964, when in addition to his Gold Glove play at third base, he reached career highs of a .317 batting average and 118 RBIs.
