The categories affected are documentary short, film editing, makeup/hairstyling, original score, production design, animated short, live action short and sound. The Academy already gives out a group of technical awards, which are probably seen as too nerdy for the telecast, on a separate day. These are the Academy’screated to,"honor individuals and companies whose discoveries and innovations have contributed in significant and lasting ways to motion pictures.
