IT’S ALWAYS BETTER to give than to receive, especially at this time of year. For me, that means showing fellow oenophiles how much I care, by giving wines I like to drink myself and wine accouterments I’ve found useful. More often than not, I’ll opt for the classics: wines with well-established reputations and familiar names; sturdy all-purpose wine glasses; reliable reference books; and corkscrews designed to endure.
