So far the Gil Hanse-designed East course and the overall complex are drawing rave reviews, with some minor grumbling that a few of the tee areas are set on uneven terrain.“You look at the home of golf, St Andrews, it’s one of the oldest, but every tee is flat,” said Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke, the 2011 British Open champion. “You’ve got a couple out here where you’re trying to hit a little fade off the tee and you’ve got a sloped tee that’s going like this.
“Everybody’s talking about the tees and we’ll figure that out,” Waugh said. “We’re bringing major championship golf to our home, so we’re showcasing what’s going on here.”
