will skip Sean Manaea this turn through the rotation, allowing the beleaguered left-hander a work week to “rejuvenate the arm a little bit,” Padres manager Bob Melvin said, “get a little distance … and figure out where we go from there.”
Manaea admitted that this recent run of struggles “is probably a little bit longer than anything I’ve ever gone through.” As someone who’s seen each of Manaea’s starts, Melvin has as good an idea as anyone about what’s different from his first 10 starts .
