The Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. set to play first game in San Diego since September 2021; Wil Myers on the injured list and did not make trip with Reds
Fernando Tatis Jr.For the first time since Sept. 26, 2021, Tatis will play in front his home crowd at Petco Park. The 24-year-old returned from his PED suspension on April 20, the start of a nine-game road trip that took the Padres through Arizona, Chicago and Mexico City.Advertisement
“It’s going to be loud,” Tatis said. “I know it’s going to be great to be back. It’s going to be a moment to appreciate, and I’m just going to totally embrace it.” Tatis is hitting .268/.302/.463 with two homers through his first nine games and he has hits in his last eight games . He will bat leadoff and play right field, where he’s played every game so far. The only other spot he’s hit in the lineup is second — twice so far.
