Ted Plevritis, a Palatine man charged in an Edison Park hit-and-run crash that killed retired Chicago cop Richard Haljean, is out of jail on bond.

Richard Haljean served more than 30 years on the Chicago police force. He was also a Marine and father of three. "My brother was the best," Haljean said."Always there for anyone who needed him. Heart of gold. We need to keep saying his name and remember him as a hero to the city of Chicago.""We couldn't get through this without all of this support," Haljean said.
