A movie star from Hollywood must have dropped in on Pasadena ISD's intermediate school district meet earlier this month, based on all these youngsters taking pictures with their cell phones. No movie star, just Park View Intermediate folks taking a picture of a Park View athlete on the medals stand.The points champion for the recent Pasadena ISD seventh grade girls district track and field championship didn't come from the first-place team.

West's efforts never went south because she captured first place in the long jump, giving her 10 points, before winning the 100-meter dash for 10 more points. Then twice Park View captured the silver medal in relay races, giving the team 16 points and four points for each individual runner. West was the anchor in the 4 by 100 relay, bringing home the time of 57.22 seconds.

West took the 100-meter dash in 13.46 seconds, defeating Tatiana Williams of Miller and her 14.12.West took the long jump with a leap of 13 feet, 7 inches. Beverly Hills' Emya Lamb was second in the long jump at 13-4. In the Pasadena Citizen's First Team All-District list, three Park View girls snagged First Team honors. Chloe Barnes and Isaris Rivera each scored 18 points. So from those three Park View athletes, they were responsible for 64 of the school's 81 points.
