Chief Randy Garza of the Ponderosa Fire Department said that a dump truck of asphalt equipment was carrying the open trailer when it caught fire.
“It seems like it started with the braking system because it did catch the tires on fire,” Garza said. “Everything was contained to that area of the trailer. It was connected to a dump truck but none of that was heavily involved.”Garza said that the fire was easily contained with two pumpers and about 800 gallons of water.
