Outstanding weather greeted 24 teams for the annual event that kicked off the high school...
Sam Rayburn's Alexandro Cantu races down the Veterans Memorial turf looking for a shot on goal, while an Angleton player gives chase.Fans really didn't know which was better. Was it the spring-like temperatures or the soccer action during this past weekend's Pearland/Pasadena Cup?
Pebble Hills, the high school that traveled all the way from El Paso, won the Blue Division with 25 points. Alief Elsik claimed the Red Division with 33 points, Pearland bagged the Maroon Division with 21 and Clear Lake secured the Yellow Division with 27. Scoring the goals were Jason Leon, Rene Jaime, Alexandro Cabello, Alexander Luna, Nathan Martinez and Jason Garza.
"It's a good thing we don't have three refs because if we had three refs, I don't know if the ball crossed the line or not. I'm ready for some VR in high school soccer, the virtual scanners they use in the World Cup. We might have benefited of having two refs on the field," Bruce said. The match ended with Angleton peppering Sam Rayburn's goal area with corner kick after corner kick. Rayburn just couldn't clear the ball. There were some tense moments for sure.
