Tensions between Corner Brook businessman Colin Way, who owns multiple properties in the Outer Battery, and his neighbours reached new heights this weekend with alleged vandalism at Pearcey’s Twine Store. The RNC is investigating.
The owner of the damaged property, Jason Pearcey, told NTV News on Jan. 14 the neighbour alleged their patio was on his property and that workers showed up with chainsaws at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, destroying the patio and a set of steps. Pearcey said lawyers have been contacted regarding the damage.
Residents have asked the city to step in and enforce existing regulations which appear to address the lighting issue, but last week St. John’s mayor Danny Breen said the matter is a private dispute between neighbours and the city will not intervene.
