Pearland's first BioLife Plasma Donation Center opened on Mar. 25 and have several career opportunities available for nurses and technicians.BioLife Plasma, a plasma donation center, opened its 200th U.S. location and first location in Pearland on March 25.

"We look for communities where we think we will have a skilled workforce," said Jenni Nickelson, BioLife's district operations manager.Plasma is the straw-colored liquid portion of blood that remains after red and white blood cells and platelets are removed. It can transform into life-saving therapies for patients with rare and complex chronic diseases.

The plasma is sent to a BioLife manufacturing center where the donor's plasma is turned into medication for recipients. Recipients can receive therapy at the company's infusion centers.Anyone over the age of 18 years can donate as long as they weigh over 110 pounds and are in good health., through the BioLife mobile app or walk into any donation center.
