Police did not say how many shots were fired, or who fired the shots. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
Police said just before 8 p.m., Dillon and Silverthorne officers responded to a call about a stolen car at the Summit Place Shopping Center. "The response resulted in a foot pursuit involving a Silverthorne Police Officer and an armed suspect. Shots were fired and the suspect is deceased," police said in a news release. The name of the person who died has not yet been released.
Police said a portion of Highway 9 was closed due to the investigation. It reopened around 4 a.m. Tuesday. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
