.Phantogram have released the striking visual for their latest single 'Into Happiness':
The video is woven around the Eastern myth of the red thread of fate, which director Floria Sigismondi describes in a statement as “a string tied by the gods around one’s little finger connecting them to other souls they are destined to meet.”
The video expands on the connection, finding the band at different ages as they move through a dreamworld connected by the red string. A clay face is molded, an experimental dancer contorts, snakes slither into oblivion, children explore an abandoned house and, in their final full-bodied form, bandmates Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter are bound together by the string.
“‘Into Happiness’ is a song about growth and realization of a lot of things in our lives over the years,” the band said in a statement. “We teamed up with Floria Sigismondi, whose work we’ve loved for some time; it was fun to put ourselves in her hands and let her take the video and song where she saw it going. Since we’ve known each other since preschool, she wanted to show our journey together throughout our lives.
